The Powerhouse Rocamboles

Kilarney Red

Our most vigorous rocambole.   Said to be a sport from Spanish Roja, grown on Kilarney Red farm in Idaho (I met the owners once!).  We really like this one, it's got uniformly big bulbs and great all-around rocambole flavor (i.e. rich and wonderful!).  It is also better adapted to wet conditions than most rocambole types.

Spanish Roja

This is the first "gourmet" garlic to make it big, beloved for years.  Sometimes called "Oregon Blue" in the Pacific Northwest.  Nice bulbs which when roasted, some consider to be the "quinessential garlic flavor."  Can be susceptible to wet conditions although we've been growing this strain for years.  Make sure to plant it in a well-drained site.

Yugoslavian

This particularly variety came from Yugoslavian immigrants to British Columbia.  Nice, mostly white med-largish bulbs.  This is our hands-down favorite for garlic aroma.  It is so aromatic sometimes we just like to do nothing more than smell it!  And that wonderful, rich and multi-facted aroma lends itself well to any raw dishes or sauces.  Also a good roasting type.
