The stars of the show - the Willowood Veggies

At Willowood Farm we typically plant annually around 200 different named varieties of veggies.  We have a number of old standby favorites, yet every year are trying something new.  We enjoy growing open-pollinated and heirloom varieties of veggies with long histories.  We are not, however, opposed to using newer "hybrid" varieties, especially those being developed by a growing cadre of knowledgeable vegetable breeders working specifically with organic systems in mind.

At Willowood Farm we love diversity in a theme and enjoy bringing to market, for instance, 10 different kinds of lettuce representing a range of colors, shapes, textures and tastes.  We strive to shock and awe with the beauty, diversity and abundance of fabulous, tasty and healthy vegetables we are blessed to grow.

We have a particular love for garlic, currently growing more than 20 rare varieties, and potatoes, currently growing more than a
dozen gourmet varieties.                          Glorious garlic...

About our growing practices...

At Willowood Farm of Ebey's Prairie we grow everything the natural way, without the use of chemical pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers.  While we have chosen not to become organic certified at this point, we do grow to organic standards.  We focus on putting as much back into the land as we take out, and have a regime of cover cropping, manure spreading and crop rotation to best utilize the health of our soil.
